Ashley & Devin — An Evening at the Zoo

The Jacksonville Zoo–one of my most unique venues to date.

This was the perfect spot for Ashley and Devin to tie the knot and celebrate with family and friends. The entire wedding look was developed around the venue location. Rich chocolate brown, mocha and a bold, hot pink served as the perfect color palette within which to play and design. Ashley gave me almost “free reign” to help design a wedding weekend that fit their personality and her love of animal print.

The result is a wedding weekend filled with love, laughter, wine, friends and some animal prints. Playful blooms like pincushion protea, green dianthus and pink tulips mixed well with traditional mini green hydrangeas, hot pink roses and pink gerber daisies for a look that was colorful, playful and filled with texture.

Wedding guests were greeted at the zoo with a program cleverly designed as a admissions ticket to the event. A scenic train ride through the zoo grounds delivered guests to the Gardens at Trout River Plaza where the ceremony was held. Following the exchanging of vows and rings, guests were escorted to the Giraffe Overlook and Savanna Blooms Garden for a cocktail reception featuring the bride’s favorite beers and signature cocktails. Dinner and dancing were held at the Range of the Jaguar where the space was transformed with lighting, chocolate linens, fun, playful table centerpieces and plenty of prosecco for guests to enjoy.

The wedding weekend also featured a welcome reception at a local brewery for Ashley and Devin’s guests on Friday night and a farewell brunch hosted by the bride and groom the morning after the wedding. Ashley’s attention to detail and thinking about each of her guests made for a personal, special wedding weekend.

the most perfect cake, compliments of Anna Echols of One Belle Bakery

It was an absolute pleasure working on this wedding with Ashley. I loved meeting new friends, like Anna the baker (who drove two cakes all the way from North Carolina) and catching up with old friends, like Phillip who flew in from Missouri to celebrate with Ashley. Thank you to Ashley and Devin for allowing me to celebrate with you and to Katy Too–thank you for trusting me with your daughter’s wedding. It was a true delight!
