JD & Jennifer – A Garden Wedding

JD and Jennifer were married on July 31, 2010 at 5:00 in the afternoon. The ceremony took place at Isle of Hope UMC and the reception was at the Savannah Yacht Club.

Jennifer wanted the wedding weekend to have a garden, eclectic, and intimate feeling, using flowers with lots of texture. Dahlias, zinnias, mini green hydrangeas, blue thistles, gerber daisies, wax flowers, freesia, and green berries were all used to add to the garden feeling we were going after.

The color palette for this wedding was interesting. The bridesmaids wore a periwinkle cocktail dress, and Jennifer wanted flowers in the bright yellow, orange, pink and green colors. Since blue was in the color scheme, I chose to make the groomsmen’s boutonnières out of green hypericum berries and blue thistle. This provided visual interest with color and texture, and was different than the usual rose stem.

Below are some of the amazing images from the fabulous husband and wife team of Nate and Laura Henderson of Open Light Studio.

Thanks to JD and Jennifer for allowing me to make their wedding weekend more beautiful with flowers. I had a wonderful time and I wish you all the best as you begin a life together!
